 Update to Buchs September 2025

 

The Buchs government is trying to grow the City (yes, it is a city since it has more than 10'000 people living here) as much as possible.

North of the Railway station there were some kind of "sheds" for logistic companies and other. Most of that is pulled down and right now there is in the making "Rhein City" with 30 condominiums and 140(!) flats, see:.rheincity https://www.ch/ 

And on the other side of the railway station just aside of the Agrola Petrolstation a new Office building is in the make. In a year from now the whole Hilti IT will be moved from the HIBAG building into this new building! The existing building is sold and our former colleagues are looking forward to move in!

Then, also in that Aarea (there was kind of a funny parking lot and a Turkish shop in a very old wooden building and also kind of a strange restaurant) just across of HIBAG: all pulled down and started a couple of months ago the so called "Buchs Tower" is being built: At least 30 stories...

Less than 100 Meters beyond where we live now, the International School was built (with money from the Hilti Family).

Also in that area the Technical High School expanded quite a bit and still has plans to expand. 

 Here pictures that I had taken today:

If you look close, you see two cranes: Just behind the first (tall one) you might see HIBAG. This crane stais at the construction site of the coming to be "Buchs Tower"
Then just where you see the second crane in the background is the new building, where the HIBAG people will move in. The building is not owned by the Hilti company (could also be owned by Hilti, I don't know)

And beyond the buildings you can see, that there is still some potential for the future.

May 2023: Ten days in our cabin

   It was about time, to look after the surrounding of our cabin. Quite a few jobs had to be done: - The fence toward the little street had to be renewed. For this we had to make about ten new poles.  - These poles we cut in our own little wood. There are enough fir trees! - I also had to prepare the scythe by peening it (zu Deutsch: Dengeln) - Sabine looked after the little garden and the two berry-bushes Beside of all this we also had relaxing and enjoyable time.  - We spoiled ourselfes with delicious food - We observed the nature around our place - We also met some friends from up there The weather was much better than expected. When it rained, it did mainly at night. One evening, there came a shower of sleet - just in time so that we could cool our white wine which adjoined the fish meal All in all a fantastic time.
